Our Gratitude to All of You in Roanoke!!

This week is Thanksgiving week. The day after will be the beginning of another XMas shopping season. But we’d like to stop for a brief moment at Star City FAME to reflect on another fulfilling year creating videos in Roanoke, inspired by all the artistic and fun people in our region. Sure, the place is beautiful beyond the ordinary geographics of many towns in the United States. But it’s the remarkable energy of the people in Roanoke and the Valley that gives this exceptional community its momentum.

First, as owner of Star City FAME, I would like to thank you creative groups and individuals that bring life to Roanoke and our videos. Among them notably are our young bands, musicians, and artists. Without you, there would be no arts and music scene. Also, without groups like Local Colors, Square Society, Fashionistas, Starbomb, (and countless more), there would be no diversity or congruity in our community.

Often we have the opportunity to work alongside other independent media people, and I would like to personally thank these supporters of arts, music, and culture who put a great deal of their own time into promoting Roanoke as the regional Arts capitol of Southwest Virginia. My sincere thanks to Roanoke Revolution, 16 Blocks, Kent Moore, Bill Mahone, Hans Moore, and Susan M Ayers for your friendship. These are just some of the people I have run into on the scene or hooked up with on shoots for some of our recorded events.

My gratitude to all you behind-the-scenes people who passionately help evolve our city. And many thanks to the front line movers and shakers, particularly Beth Deel and River Laker, for their vision and their many ways of engaging our community 24/7/365.

Also, I would like to say a BIG thank you to our local small businesses and venues that support the arts and give our creative community places to show their talents. Thank you friends at Bazaar Consignments, Happy’s Flea Market, Just Embrace Love Please, Penn Forest Worship Center, Roanoke Revolution, 3rd Street Coffeehouse, and all of you who host indie bands and musicians.

I thank our individual clients and corporate contracts for your business. Without you, we’d be working in the dark.

Last but not least, thanks to all our great Arts and Cultural Orgs, their directorships and volunteers behind them, for bringing so many fun events to our residents and visitors. Special thanks to Downtown Roanoke Inc, Kirk Ave Music Hall, Shadowbox, Roanoke Public Libraries, the Arts Council of Blue Ridge, Center in the Square, Music Lab, Jeff Center, Taubman Museum, Local Colors, and EventZone for all your hard work all year long.

I want to end by saying that we at Star City FAME continue to support the Arts through volunteerism and services, and we look forward to another exciting year of music, arts, and events that we can bring to our viewers via YouTube, Facebook, and our website. Since 2009, when Star City FAME was founded, we have donated over $50,000 worth of video production to our great orgs and the local arts/music/cultural scene in Downtown Roanoke. We try to promote Roanoke for its remarkable positive successes, and feel blessed to be part of an area so alive with things to experience. Our participation is continually growing on our website and video channel. We enjoy presenting new videos to you as often as we can – and we’d love to cover even more because there’s just so, so much going on here in Roanoke ALL THE TIME!!!

We wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
